Over the years, I have worked at several amazing salons alongside some fantastic groomers. It was always my goal to open my own shop, and I feel fortunate to have those previous salons to guide me to where I am today. My idea was to take the best aspects of those establishments and combine my favorite parts about them into a smaller, homier version of my own.
When I first started out here at my small, private shop, I decided to take on just one dog at a time at first, as to not overwhelm myself. It was not long before I saw the very clear difference in the stress levels of not just myself, but my four-legged clients as well. I realized how much more relaxed of an environment it was with just one appointment at a time, whether that be one dog or multiple from the same household. I even saw a difference in pups that I had been grooming for years at other salons.
That's when I decided that a one-on-one structure was the way I wanted to go. I knew I wouldn't be able to groom quite as many dogs as I could if I overlapped appointments, but the general experience of a one-on-one groom is so very worth it to me. Being able to focus my full, undivided attention on each pup, without any distraction or other dogs barking and whining, truly rekindled my passion for dog grooming.
While I understand that it's not for everyone, it has been a huge game changer for me personally, as well as the majority of my clientele. Personally, I wouldn't want my own pup sitting in a kennel for any period of time while they wait for their turn. Let's face it, grooming is pretty stressful for our pups, some more than others, so this structure has allowed me to focus on getting your dog in and out in a timely fashion so he/she can get back home to their parents.
In order to keep things running smoothly, it is crucial that we are on the same page about scheduling. Most pups take me around 1-2 hours to complete, so it's important to note that your dog's grooming appointment does not equal a day of errands for you. Please plan accordingly!
